Loss is an inevitable part of life, and for musicians, it can take many forms. Whether it’s the loss of a loved one, the end of a significant relationship, or the fading of a once-thriving career, each experience shapes our artistry and influences our creative expression. In this post, I will share my personal journey through loss as a musician, exploring how it has impacted my music and my life.

Loss can feel overwhelming. It often brings a wave of emotions that can be difficult to navigate. For me, the loss came when I lost my friend and musician Frank Falconer . He was not only my biggest supporter but also a musical influence.
Turning to Art
In the months following my friend's death, I began to write songs that expressed my feelings of loss. Here are some ways I found my voice through music:

Experimenting with Genres: I explored different musical styles to find what resonated with my grief. I found solace in acoustic ballads, which allowed for raw emotional expression.
Collaborating with Others: I reached out to fellow musicians. Collaborating with them not only provided support but also enriched my song-writing process.
Lessons Learned from Loss
Through my journey of navigating loss, I have learned several valuable lessons that have shaped my perspective as a musician:
Moving Forward
As I continue my journey as a musician, I carry the lessons learned from my experiences with loss. While the pain may never fully disappear, I have found ways to honour my friend's memory through my music. Here are some steps I take to move forward:
Set New Goals
Setting new goals helps me stay focused and motivated. I aim to write and record new music that reflects my growth and healing. This process allows me to channel my emotions into something positive.
